How do you do? I often get told that people don't quite understand what I do, so I'm taking this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Sakura Egami 🌸 I wasn't born in spring; my name comes from the Latin word 'Sacra' (sacred). My artist parents gave it to me because it's a word that's easy to remember all over the world. Cherry blossom! I was born on 28th December ☃️ I was born in '94 as an only child to bohemian parents – my father is a contemporary artist and my mother is a pianist. I used to roast sweets over a fire in the mountains, walk long distances to school every day on my tiny feet, practise piano accompaniments I was forced to play while crying, and I was the head of the brass band (clarinet) and the children's council president. As an only child, I had no one to play with, so I was a salesperson even back then, calling people on the contact list from top to bottom. And because I wanted to go to a fun school, I moved to Tokyo for secondary school. It was a general course school focused on creative work, with about 10 hours of art classes a week. I'm so glad I went to Joshibi! I still think that countless times. I truly recommend it to anyone with a daughter. At the time, I was terrible at drawing, to the point where my parents were concerned about my artistic ability, but when I put my mind to it in high school, I became very good. In secondary school, I was in the hardball tennis club and was so obsessed that my email address was 'tennisgirl'. After that, being a teenager, various things happened, and I flew into the world of Shibuya. Shibuya had many networks of private boys' and girls' schools, and my secondary school life was very stimulating. Walking through Centre Gai, people would ask, "Are you Sakupomu-san? Can I take a photo with you?" I publicly shared my private life on social media to such an extent that I was even called a 'Shibu-men' (Shibuya boy) or a famous Shibuya JC (junior high school girl). I also hung out with 'Fukuro-men' and 'Hama-men'. Through those connections, a senior I met told me about an event organisation run by high school students, and that's where my event life began. It's all thanks to Shibuya. I was the subject of a lot of gossip, I stood out, and then I got tired of playing around and became serious from high school onwards. I became engrossed in both art and studying every day, aiming to be the best, and my art improved astonishingly. My observational skills and the time I put in made a huge difference.
