Andes hiking: worth the faff

While hiking up in the Peruvian Andes, altitude sickness fully manifested itself. Despite the headache, horrible dizziness, and muscle pain, I try to look for perfect composition. I shoot pictures and for a brief moment, I forget about the pain. I see beauty. Totally worth it. My legs are heavy, my head is spinning, I'm high up. Very high up, nearly 5000 metres... Every step is a struggle for me. The worst altitude sickness I've experienced so far. Every metre feels like a kilometre. Tiring, only the power of self-denial gets me up there. Nevertheless, I try to perceive the surrounding beauty. My eyes search for gaps through the flowers, steep bushes, I'm looking for the perfect composition. Oh! YES! It's beautiful here, those lines, layers... in the foreground beautiful purple flowers, deep green branches of small trees and three ridges of towering mountains. I love lines. With effort, I take out my camera, take photos and at least for a moment, I free myself from the physical pain of altitude sickness. It's worth it. ✍️ Full story here: https://www.lydia.studio/your-turquoise-dream
