Remembering Brent at the ACT Coffee Event

Watching them pour the best tasting coffee I'd had in my life. To my right (that's left of the photo) is Brent Williams, whom I've just learned passed away this morning. This was at the last ever ACT Coffee Event in 2012. At the nationals in 2013 in Melbourne, Brent and I spoke about the same coffee we tasted, and his face frowned and we looked at each other with a mutual agreement and so much emotion. As coffee judges, we had to hold all those feelings in. It's tough, but as judges, it's the only way to stay professional. Hiding behind Brent in the photo was our head judge, with whom I frequently discuss how delicious and unforgettable that coffee was. And today I realise that while that memory of that coffee doesn't get old, we all do. Credit to whoever took this photo.
