My first time judging a roasting competition.

I finally finished judging the competition! If I had to sum it up in one sentence: it was an experience that was truly worth having. I've competed in roasting competitions many times before, but this was my first time standing on the other side of the table as a judge. One thing that really stood out to me: 1. The Head Judge was absolutely amazing. She has a level of experience unlike anyone I've ever met. Honestly, it was incredible—in the best way. With just one sip, she could score a cup accurately and consistently. At the same time, she listened to each presentation, evaluated how competitors communicated their coffee, and even checked the compulsory elements. My brain genuinely couldn't keep up! Thank you for guiding us throughout these three days. It was also such a pleasure to see you again after the Milk Lab Roasting Competition and have the opportunity to work alongside you. 2. Watching the competitors from the judges' table changed my perspective. I honestly wanted to give everyone a higher score because they were all so impressive. Every barista passionately explained the coffee they had chosen, shared the intention behind it, and did everything they could to serve the perfect cup to the judges. It reminded me just how inspiring and admirable this profession really is. I want to cheer on every single competitor! 3. Evaluating a single cup of coffee is incredibly rewarding. Being able to focus completely on the coffee in front of me as a judge was something I truly enjoyed. Of course, there were moments of stress and pressure, but I'm proud that I made it through to the end. Most of all, I'm grateful to everyone who judged alongside me. I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
