Mapping My Memories of Abroad

This month marks my second year of returning home from living abroad. What a wonderful life it was back then. I've got several memories scattered across several places. Little did I know that returning home has never been easy. Some people say, once you leave home and migrate to another country, after a while you'll become too foreign for the home you left and too foreign for the home you found. It makes you feel a bit unsettled no matter how many years have passed by. I initially thought that the uncomfortable feeling of being disconnected would gradually fade away as time goes by, only to realise that it doesn't work that way. I find it hard to cope with the feeling of longing for the place I left behind and the people I came across, whom I shared experiences with and grew up together. I began to make a lot of critical judgements about home and feel that everything seems different. Home has become less familiar to me and doesn't feel like what it once was.
