Read 👇 The Secret to Better Watch Shots ⌚
Want to know how we get that clean, premium look?
1️⃣ Start with the product
Position the watch at an angle that shows the dial, case, and bracelet clearly. Keep the composition simple and let the watch remain the hero.
2️⃣ Build your key light
Use a large softbox as the main light. The bigger the source, the softer and more controlled the highlights become across the metal.
3️⃣ Shape the reflections
With reflective products, you’re not just lighting the watch — you’re lighting what the watch sees. Use white cards, black flags, and diffusion to control where highlights appear.
4️⃣ Add definition
Introduce a smaller or more directional modifier to bring out the edges, bracelet, and details without flattening the product.
5️⃣ Control the background
Make sure the background doesn't distract your audience from the subject so the watch has depth without competing for attention.
6️⃣ Fine-tune everything
Small changes in the light position can completely change the reflections on the glass and metal. Move the light, flags, and product until the highlights fall exactly where you want them.
7️⃣ Editing
A big part of commercial-level visuals relies on editing to help you communicate your vision and the feel you want to show. Make sure to edit your commercial photos to add that polished look.
The secret isn't having more lights — it's knowing how to control the light you already have.
